Paradox: The Alien Genome

Humans are sent into space to find a cure. What they find instead shocks everyone.

In 2105, eager beaver scientists thought they'd solved the problem of malaria with a genetically engineered vaccine. A generation passed before the awful truth was discovered. Now, with human extinction a grave possibility, chaos prompts scientists to send a starship to find the chiral DNA molecule that will stop it. The search lasts for two years. Their last hope is a planet 25 light years from home that revolves backwards. Finally in orbit, with success dangling before their eyes, they are suddenly shipwrecked. A rescue, if any, is years away.

Captain Thomas Jackson is no quitter, and he adapts to a new mission. He has to keep his crew together with nothing but their escape pods and ingenuity. And that miracle molecule that surrounds them in abundance begins to slowly kill them. On the brink, grieving the loss of his ship, a crewmember, and for those on Earth depending on his success, Jackson sets out alone in search of solutions, and any shrub that might be a substitute for coffee.

Stuck on the planet, at the mercy of hostile natives, Jackson must hide or summon his courage. His child's alien genome will save millions of children on Earth, but first he has to get her there, alive.

The fate of every crew member, of every human on Earth, of Rianya and their miracle daughter, sits on his shoulders. And still, he has no damn coffee.
